Samantha and Monte’s Wimberley engagement session was everything you dream about when you picture golden Texas light, warm, glowing, and full of love. Monte, originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Samantha, who grew up in Texas, first crossed paths at Vanderbilt University through a shared love of music. From friendship to partnership, their connection deepened over the years as they navigated graduate school and life changes in different cities. By August of 2020, they knew they were meant to be more than friends.

One of the sweetest chapters of their story unfolded during Monte’s unforgettable proposal. What started as a casual date night turned into a beautifully orchestrated surprise at DePaul University in Chicago. Surrounded by friends, Monte took the stage, sang Marc Cohn’s “True Companion,” and asked Samantha the most important question of his life. Her answer? A glowing, joy-filled “yes.”

During their session, it was so clear how much fun these two have together, their shared love of biking, travel, musical theater, dogs, and even Samantha’s cooking shone through in every laugh and glance. They fit together so naturally, and photographing them felt like watching two best friends who also happen to be soulmates.
